Motorcycles at Humberstone Road, Leicester 1940-2008

There’s a long and proud history of motorcycling on Humberstone Road in Leicester. Probably quite a lot longer than you may think. Many of you will recognise the name Fasttrack Motorcycles. The owner, Nathan Cox, has been trading in the area for over 13 years but his company’s roots go much deeper. Right back to the 1940’s when 141-143 Humberstone Road was doing what it does best. Selling and servicing motorcycles.

In the 1940's Bob Pike built and ran a successful business from there, selling and servicing Norton and AJS motorcycles. Believing that quality of workmanship was paramount he instilled the self same values into his Grandson who would spend much of his spare time restoring motorcycles and helping out in his workshop at Allandale Road where he retired. The healthy interest in all things mechanical grew into a lifestyle and by the age of fourteen Nathan had already rented his own lock-up opposite his Grandfather’s where he began to build and restore his own motorcycles which in itself grew into a small business. Then in 1995 Nathan knew that he also wanted to make a career out of it and started Fasttrack Motorcycles at the old bus depot on Abbey Park Road, Leicester.

His Grandfather’s principles of honesty and quality of service to customers paid off as with minimal advertising and reliant on word of mouth recommendation he has managed to grow from a one-man operation to a successful independent motorcycle dealership and after only 10 years of trading managed a return home to the very same building where it all began.
